Growing and Changing

For the People

Even through these years of growth, Lake City Bank stayed focused on its communities. It continued to find ways—outside the bank—to lift up the places it called home.

For example, in 1980 the bank tore down its free-standing drive up in downtown Warsaw to build a larger one across the street and built a landscaped park on the empty lot.

When it opened a branch in Mentone in 1984, the bank took over upkeep of the town’s showpiece—a three-thousand-pound concrete egg that still sits in front of the bank’s Mentone office.

When the bank launched its internal training program in 1987, there was no question focus for the initial efforts: customer service. Instructors conducted more than 40 courses designed around “The Year of the Customer.”

In 1987, the bank purchased a vintage flag collection to honor its American history. A year later, it added a 1946 fire truck that paid tribute to local traditions.

Then and now, it’s easy to find stories of Lake City Bank’s corporate involvement. What may not be as obvious are the quiet ways individual employees also become involved. From local clubs and committees to elected service, Lake City Bank’s people take pride in living and working alongside their customers. For them, it’s always been about the people.
