Lake City Bank Supports Ivy Tech Students in Warsaw with Laptops
Starting in Fall 2019, Lake City Bank partnered with Ivy Tech Community College Warsaw to provide laptops for students through the college’s Loan-to-Own program.
In the Loan-to-Own program, students can check out a laptop for two weeks. They can extend the loan to an entire semester if they maintain the equipment and have it checked for security and maintenance on campus twice monthly. The student keeps the computer at the end of the term if they are in good financial standing and enrolled for the upcoming semester.
“Our Laptop Loan-to-Own program has grown significantly with the help of Lake City Bank,” said Allyn Decker, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor of Ivy Tech Warsaw. “I cannot stress enough how important technology has been for our students, especially as we continue to expand opportunities for distance learning.”
Beginning with an initial supply of 20 laptop computers, the bank has supplied 36 laptops and tablets to the program. The computers are stripped of bank information and reloaded with software at Ivy Tech. The donated computers come complete with charging cords, network adapters and new cases.
“Ivy Tech has proven to be a great partner for Lake City Bank,” said Darrin M McLaughlin, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. “A number of folks on our technology teams are graduates of Ivy Tech, and we intend to continue to recruit new graduates. This program allows us to not only invest in our community, but also our future workforce.”
