Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month, which takes place from September 15 to October 15, is a time to recognize and honor the cultures and histories of people in the U.S. with roots in Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. That’s a huge part of our country—as of 2023, nearly one-fifth, or 19.5% of the U.S. population is Hispanic,* including many in our Indiana communities.

At Lake City Bank, inclusivity is one of our core values. To celebrate, we asked four of our colleagues to share what Hispanic Heritage Month means to them. Their stories all highlight the importance of family and the strong values passed down from their parents and grandparents.

For those who might not know, Hispanic refers to people from Spanish-speaking backgrounds, while Latino (or Latina) describes those from Latin America, which includes Central and South America, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands.

Take a look at their heartfelt responses and celebrate with us this Hispanic Heritage Month!
