Same Day ACH Debits Starting September 15, 2017

Same day ACH debits may impact your cash position starting September 15, 2017. Also, some checks could come out of your account on the same day they are written.

What is cash position?

Your cash position is how much cash and cash equivalents you have available in your accounts at any specific time. This amount needs to cover whatever payments or other liabilities you need to pay each day, as well as any minimum balance you need to have in the account.

How will this impact my cash position?

Same day ACH debits will affect how quickly some online payments paid using a merchant site, such as credit cards, utilities and insurance, are taken out of your account. These payments may process and be taken out of your account the same day rather than taking several days to process. Depending on your cash position at the time, this could result in you overdrawing your account.

What do I need to do to avoid overdrawing my account?

Keep in mind that any online payment made at a merchant site could be taken out of your account on the same day, and make sure you have the cash in your account to cover that payment.
